OUR CURRENT PROGRAMS
Core Research Initiatives
Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessments
Purpose: Our assessments focus on evaluating the educational outcomes of children aged 6-15 years, specifically in literacy and numeracy. By analyzing the current state of children’s learning achievements, we identify gaps and areas for improvement.
• Impact: The results from these assessments provide essential data to inform strategies aimed at improving learning outcomes across schools. By understanding the strengths and weaknesses in foundational education, we can advocate for targeted interventions that foster better literacy and numeracy skills, setting a solid foundation for future learning.
Life Skills and Values Research
Purpose: This research investigates the critical life skills and values necessary for adolescents to succeed in society. We focus on understanding what skills are vital for youth to navigate challenges, make informed decisions, and thrive in the workforce and broader community.
• Impact: By identifying these essential skills, we contribute to the development of educational frameworks that better prepare young people for life beyond school. These insights help shape curricula and youth empowerment programs that equip adolescents with the skills needed for personal growth, responsible citizenship, and professional success.
Research on Policy Learning for Universal Secondary Education (PLUS) Project
Purpose: The PLUS (Policy Learning for Universal Secondary Education) project aims to understand the barriers and enablers to achieving a 100% transition rate from primary to secondary school. This research seeks to address the challenges that prevent children from continuing their education after primary school, particularly in under-resourced areas.
• Impact: The findings from the PLUS study provide critical insights into the factors that affect school transitions, including financial barriers, infrastructure limitations, and social or cultural obstacles. By identifying both the barriers and enablers, we can advocate for policy changes, such as scholarships, improved infrastructure, and community support programs, that ensure every child has the opportunity to progress to secondary school. This directly contributes to achieving SDG 4 (Quality Education) by improving access to secondary education for all.
Program Goals and Impact
- Improving Educational Quality: Through research on literacy, numeracy, and life skills, we aim to enhance the quality of education and ensure that children and adolescents are well-equipped to succeed in both their academic and personal lives.
- Influencing Education Policy: By providing evidence-based insights, we aim to influence educational policies that support the transition to secondary education and address the systemic barriers that prevent children from completing their schooling.
- Empowering Youth: Our research on life skills ensures that youth are better prepared to face societal challenges, equipping them with the tools to become active, responsible, and successful members of their communities.
- Promoting Universal Access to Education: Through the PLUS project and other research efforts, we contribute to building a more equitable education system, advocating for policies that make secondary education universally accessible.
