Promoting access to quality Education For Children
The fourth SDG by the government of Kenya addresses education with an aim of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. This means the government and development partners have a huge role to play in ensuring that access, retention, transition and quality are achieved for our children. In Kenya, Free Primary Education exists but that has come with a lot more challenges than anticipated. With an increase in enrolment, public schools became overpopulated with very little resources coming from the government thus quality of education became compromised.
Education plays an enormous role in the development of a child’s future, and we work to use a number of programs and resources to ensure that all the children we work with have both access to education and other basic needs in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Boards of Management, stakeholders in the education sector, communities and children.
The project ensures the OVC’s have access to materials’ needed in school and also through mentorship programs. We link children in need of school bursaries with institutions that offer bursaries and scholarships. We Support out of school youth with training through apprenticeship, Support needy OVC’s with school uniform and other scholastic materials.
