OUR CURRENT PROGRAMS
Health, Advocacy, and Awareness
Keeping Girls in School through provision of Sanitary Towels
Our Health, Advocacy, and Awareness program is dedicated to addressing critical health challenges and advocating for the well-being of vulnerable populations, including youth, women, and people living with HIV/AIDS. It aims to promote human rights, raise awareness on sensitive health issues, and empower individuals to make informed decisions regarding their health and well-being. The program focuses on HIV/AIDS, mental health, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), Gender-Based Violence (GBV), menstruation management, and advocacy for equal opportunities. Our interventions are designed to foster inclusive social change and to contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially those focused on health, gender equality, and social inclusion.
Health Sensitization and HIV/AIDS Awareness
We conduct health sensitization campaigns aimed at raising awareness on HIV/AIDS, drug abuse, and mental health issues, focusing on human rights and health well-being, particularly for youth and children. We educate communities about HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and the importance of reducing stigma, empowering individuals to seek care. This effort contributes directly to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by aiming to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic by 2030 and ensure universal health coverage. By reducing stigma and misinformation, we support access to healthcare and treatment, particularly for people living with HIV/AIDS, contributing to SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
Our mental health sensitization efforts also aim to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues, promote emotional well-being, and ensure access to mental health care services. We provide information about common mental health disorders, promote early intervention, and connect individuals with available counseling and treatment services. This supports SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), which aims to promote mental health and well-being, and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), ensuring marginalized groups receive appropriate care and support.
Keeping Girls in School through provision of Sanitary Towels
Project Dignity: Keeping Girls in School through the Provision of Sanitary Towels
Project Dignity addresses menstruation-related challenges that often prevent girls from attending school regularly. We provide sanitary towels and underpants to ensure that girls can manage menstruation with dignity, hygiene, and comfort. This initiative helps girls stay in school throughout the year, reducing absenteeism caused by menstruation. The project also integrates HIV prevention education and life skills training to equip girls with knowledge on sexual health, HIV/AIDS, and personal well-being.
This project directly supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality) by promoting education and empowering girls to overcome barriers to learning. By providing sanitary products, we reduce the stigma around menstruation and ensure that girls can attend school without shame or discomfort, helping to promote SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
Support for People Living with HIV/AIDS
Our program offers support for individuals living with HIV/AIDS by providing access to care, counseling, peer support groups, and community-based initiatives. People living with HIV often face significant stigma and social exclusion, making it difficult to access health care, education, and social services. We advocate for rights-based approaches, ensuring that individuals living with HIV/AIDS are treated with dignity and respect. We focus on ensuring equitable access to HIV treatment, mental health services, and community support, which aligns with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
Furthermore, we work on promoting HIV testing and awareness campaigns, particularly targeting vulnerable populations, ensuring early detection and treatment, thus enhancing the health outcomes of those affected by HIV. This initiative contributes to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by improving access to healthcare for marginalized groups.
Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Awareness and Advocacy
Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) are pervasive issues that disproportionately affect women, girls, and other vulnerable groups. Our advocacy and awareness campaigns focus on preventing and responding to SGBV and GBV, particularly in marginalized communities. These campaigns educate communities on the dangers of gender-based violence, promote survivor-centered care, and encourage reporting and legal redress.
We work with community leaders, parents, youth, teachers, and local authorities to sensitize on the impact of SGBV and GBV, emphasizing the importance of prevention and support for survivors. This effort includes training on legal rights, police reporting procedures, and support services for survivors, including counseling and healthcare services. These initiatives contribute directly to SDG 5 (Gender Equality) by addressing violence against women and girls, empowering survivors, and promoting equal access to justice.
Our work also aligns with SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by advocating for stronger legal frameworks and institutions to support victims and prevent violence, and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by ensuring that vulnerable populations are protected from violence and exploitation.
Advocacy for Equal Opportunities
Our program advocates for equal opportunities for boys and girls, addressing disparities in education, domestic workload, and access to essential services. We specifically work on eliminating child marriage and early pregnancies, which often curtail educational and social opportunities for girls. We lobby for government policies that promote equal rights for girls and boys and ensure that children, regardless of gender, have the opportunity to realize their full potential. This effort contributes to SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
Capacity Building and Stakeholder Participation
We actively engage in capacity building for local healthcare providers, community leaders, and other stakeholders in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, mental health care, SGBV/GBV prevention, and counseling. We also ensure that communities are well-equipped to offer support for survivors of violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, and children and youth in need of mental health support.
By training local leaders, service providers, and volunteers in these areas, we ensure community resilience and self-sufficiency in responding to these challenges. This initiative aligns with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration across sectors to improve health and well-being, reduce inequalities, and promote peace and justice in local communities.
